Baby Shower Game

Your first baby shower game should help everyone get to know mom better.

Getting to know mommy!

Preparations

Interview mom before the party and find out simple things, such as her favorite food, color, song, etc. Perhaps she has a special hobby that no one knows about. Be as creative as you would like and don't be afraid to ask some silly questions. Open up your word processor and create a multiple choice or short answer quiz for all of your guests. Don't forget to make an answer key for you!

Game Rules
On the day of the party hand out a quiz to each guest. It may be helpful to time the game so the really competitive guests will have to hurry. This also makes it more challenging in a group where everyone knows mom well. When time runs out go over the answers as a group. The person with the most correct responses wins! No matter how old your guests are, this game can be very competitive if a prize is involved.

Game to Play at A Baby Shower:

Game to play at a baby shower:
"MY WATER BROKE!"

Looking for a fun game to play at a baby shower?

There are countless ways to play this game, but I will name a few of them for you.

Preparation:

1) Freeze one little plastic baby in a cereal bowl (these can generally be found at Walmart) If you've got a long distance to travel for your shower, put the frozen baby bowl in a cooler to keep it from melting.

2) Take along a clear glass casserole dish or pie pan (something for the ice baby to melt in).

Game Play:

1) At the beginning of the baby shower, remove the ice baby from the bowl and place it into the casserole dish (sidenote: if the baby has frozen too close to the top of the ice, turn it upside down).

2) Have each guest write down the time they think it will melt by.

3) If you'd like, put someone in charge of keeping an eye on the baby and when it melts out of the ice have them record the time. This way, it won't interrupt the shower if you don't want it to.

4) Whenever you're ready, determine who is closest and announce the winner!

You can also play by freezing a baby individually for every guest. Then the guest whose baby "pops" out of the ice first is the winner!

Baby Shower Candy Bar Game

My favorite version of this infamous baby shower candy bar game!

For the baby shower candy bar game you'll need:

1) A pair of gloves.

2) A pair of die.

3) 6 regular-sized candy bars.

4) Two butter knives.

5) A large bowl.

Preparation
1) Wrap as many candy bars as you'd like with some newspaper or wrapping paper. I would make about 6, considering this game could take a while to play.
2) Place the wrapped candy bars in the bowl so they can be passed easily from player to player during the game.
3) Place the butter knives, dice and gloves in the bowl so you don't forget to take them to the baby shower!

Game Play!
1) At the baby shower, have your players sit in a circle on the floor.
2) Choose someone to start, and have them roll the dice in an attempt to roll doubles. They get one chance, then the dice are passed clockwise.
3) As soon as someone gets doubles, it it their turn until another player does.
4) While it is a player's turn, they put on both gloves and use the butter knives to try and open a candy bar.
5) When it is no longer their turn, they have to hand off the candy bar unless it is completely unwrapped.
6) If a player succeeds in unwrapping their candy bar, they get to keep it. The candy bar game is over when all the candy bars have been won.

Sidenote: If enough candy bars are given away through the game, then additional party favors may not be necessary.

Co Ed Baby Shower Game

Great co ed baby shower game, but would also work well as a multi-generational game!

The perfect co ed baby shower game is a baby bottle race!

My sister-in-law held a baby shower for me, at which I was pleasantly surprised by what was expected of me!

My mother and my grandmother were in attendance as well, and we got to race each other to see who could drink their apple juice first. Out of a baby bottle.

It is extremely more difficult than I thought it would be. However, I did win the game. And I have some very fun pictures with my mother and grandmother.

Preparation

1) Buy as many four ounce baby bottles as you will have players.

2) Buy or mix up some juice(without pulp.)

3) Fill the bottles about half way and refrigerate them until it's time to play the game!

Game Play!

1) Pass out the bottles.

2) Explain that whoever drinks their juice first, all the way, will be the winner (and receive a prize if you'd like).

3) Absolutely no biting a whole through the nipple or that player will be disqualified.

Sidenote: The baby bottles could be washed and given to the mom-to-be as a baby gift.

Another great co ed baby shower game is the candy bar game.

Baby Shower Game DIRTY DIAPER

The baby shower game Dirty Diaper, is great for a laugh.

Preparation
Place candy or favors inside disposable or cloth diapers. Don't fill them too full or what's inside will be a complete give-away. Make enough filled diapers to allow all of your guests to "win" one. If you don't want to use disposable diapers or cloth, simply fold a napkin so it resembles a diaper and secure it with a diaper pin. Fill one diaper with goo, (peanut butter, honey, melted chocolate(my personal favorite is part of a Baby Ruth candy bar!)

Game Rules
Arrange your guests in a circle and pass a diaper to each one. Play (or sing!) music while the guests pass their diapers around the circle. When the music stops, the one with the goo diaper gets showered with an extra special prize.

Baby Shower Game to Play

This is a great baby shower game to play. It got lots of laughs at my friend's party.
How Big Is Mom's Belly?

Pass around some yarn, string, toilet paper or anything else that may fit with the theme of the shower, and let each guest predict what length would fit around mom's belly.

For reference, you can use mom's belly button as a guide for where the string should wrap around if you'd like.
You can make a "master string" if she is uncomfortable with everyone measuring their strings individually. Whoever's closest wins! People are invariably surprised when they find out just how much it actually takes for one belly! My friend took 13 squares of toilet paper, so pass around the roll!

Free Baby Shower Game Idea

I like to call this free baby shower game idea the candy bar match up.
We played this in celebration of my first baby girl.

It is like playing a memory game, however, this one is unique and great for a laugh.

An awesome ice breaker!!

Preparation

1) Obtain a pack of 3x5 index cards (or baby dye cuts).
2) Write the candy bar (100 Grand, for example) on a card, and write its match on another (doctor bill).
3) Obtain candy bars for all of the items you would like.
Here are some suggestions:

Milk duds = Breastfeeding

Ring Pop = Pacifier

Jelly Bellies = Pregnant Belly

Life Savers = Epidural

Whoppers = Contractions

Good 'n Plenty = Pain Medication

Almond Joy = Baby

Score = Conception

Butterfinger = OB/GYN

You can be creative and come up with more that suit your particular baby shower.

Game Play!

1) Spread the cards upside down on the floor or on a table if your guests can all fit around it.
2) The mom-to-be goes first, choosing two cards to see if they match.
3)
Once a candy bar is correctly matched to its baby phrase, those two cards are removed and the player is rewarded with that candy bar.
4) The player then gets one more attempt to find a match and play resumes around the circle until all the candy bars have been matched.

*My neighbor informed me that this game can also be played on a poster, Concentration style.
